FBI Called To Airport For A Bomb Threat On A Plane

bomb threatCHARLOTTE, N.C. – Local and federal authorities surrounded a US Airways flight on the tarmac at Charlotte Douglas International Airport Wednesday evening, investigating a bomb threat.

The threat was made on board US Airways flight 114 from Boston to Charlotte.  The plane landed in Charlotte around 5:30 p.m.

The plane was met by FBI agents once it landed, with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers assisting them.  The passengers exited the plane and stood on the tarmac.  Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to search the plane.

One passenger was taken into federal custody and the FBI said there are no indications there is a threat to public safety.

Passengers reported a man on the plane appeared drunk and disorderly.

The FBI finished questioning the man shortly before 10 p.m. and said that he would not be facing federal charges at this time.

The 190 passengers were deplaned and bussed to their terminal.
