STATESVILLE, N.C. — A former daycare worker has been charged again in Statesville.
In mid-October, Statesville Police concluded their investigation into 38-year-old Joshua Maurice Young, a former employee of a now-closed daycare facility, Church of Today Daycare at 502 Brevard Street, in Statesville.
In June, officers received a report alleging inappropriate activity with a victim when they were 3 and 4-years-old between the years of 1995 and 1997.
During the investigation, officers located a prior allegation against Young from 1999. The victim in that incident was located and interviewed, and recalled to investigators that between 1994 and 1995, when she was 3-years-old, similar incidents in the same part of the day care that the other victim reported.
The District Attorney’s Office filed 50 counts of indecent liberties with a child and 15 counts of first-degree sex offense with a child under 13 against Young.
In mid-October, Young turned himself in to the Statesville Police Department. His bond was set at $50,000.
Last Friday, young was arrested again on two outstanding warrants for indecent liberties with a child and first-degree sex offense with a child under 13. Police say those charges were a result of their continued investigation, and involve alleged incidents between 1997 and 2000; the victim in those cases is a relative, police say, and the charges are not related to Young’s former employment at the daycare.
Young’s bond was set at $50,000 on the newest charges.
