Several people have been injured in a shooting that took place in Ballantyne.
The shooting occurred on Friday night just before 6:00 p.m. According to police reports, three individuals were inside a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex near the intersection of Ballantyne Commons Parkway and Lancaster Highway on Kingston Place Drive. The individuals inside the car were identified as Kyle Lane, 19, Travis Lane, 20, and Maxim Aleynikov, 19.
Two other men, identified as 25-year-old John Rayon Butler and 28-year-old Frankie Junior Jennings came up to the vehicle armed with firearms.
An altercation broke out during which Kyle Lane was shot by Butler, and Butler was shot during a struggle for his gun between him and Aleynikov.
Meanwhile, Travis Lane was shot in the leg by Jennings, and Jennings was shot in the arm with his own firearm.
Kyle Lane and Travis Lane were treated at Carolinas Medical Center for injuries that were described as life-threatening.
Jennings and Butler took themselves to Carolinas Medical Center and Novant Healthy Presbyterian Medical Center respectively after fleeing the scene.
After treatment, both Jennings and Butler will be arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
