Gaston County High School Teacher Arrested as Sex Predator Online

Jason_Scott_Webb.jpegA high school teacher and soccer coach in Gaston County has been accused of solicitation of a minor online.

Scott Webb, 46, a teacher and coach at Belmont’s South Point High School, was just one of 17 people arrested during a large sting operation by Lincolnton police.

Webb also faces marijuana possession charges, police said.

Webb has worked for the school district since August of 2010 and has been suspended with pay during the investigation. He was also previously a coach and English teacher from 2006 to 2010 at Hunger Huss High.

Webb was jailed on bond of $105,000.

The sting operation involved an undercover police officer pretending to be a child online, according to police. It went from February to May of this year and used several social media sites to target predators online.
