Gaston County Man Arrested For What’s Found In His Home

A Gaston County man is behind bars and an arrest warrant has been issued for another person after police found dozens of firearms, a large quantity of marijuana, and thousands of dollars in cash.

Thursday, a police officer with the Gaston County Police Department was conducting a follow up investigation at a home on Chestnut Ridge Church Road when he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the home. Additional officers as well as a K-9 unit were dispatched to help the officer out. While searching the premises, officers took 45 firearms including assault rifles, shotguns, handguns, and rifles, as well as about nine pounds of marijuana, Hydrocodone, and more than $5,000 in cash.

Mark Wesley Walters, 41, was arrested and is being charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling marijuana and Hydrocodone, trafficking opium or heroin, conspiracy to traffic opium/heroin, conspiracy to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of Hydrocodone, and resisting, delaying, and obstructing an officer. Walters is being held on a $300,000 bond.

Arrests warrants are out for Tracey John Walters, another resident of the home. He’s facing the same charges. Authorities are continuing their investigation and say more arrests are possible.
