CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Stolen firearms, including one belonging to a local FBI agent, were recovered while searching a Steele Creek apartment, police say.

A caller living in the River Birch Apartments on the 8400 block of River Birch Drive made a complaint on Tuesday.

When officers responded they could smell marijuana coming from the apartment.  The residents reportedly refused to allow the officers inside.  A search warrant was obtained.

During the search, officers allegedly found cash, a small amount of marijuana, cocaine and five firearms.  Three of the guns had been reported stolen. This included an assault rifle belonging to the FBI.

CrimeInCharlotte (.com) reported last month that someone broke into an FBI agent’s car in SouthPark, stealing his M-16 assault rifle, a shotgun, night-vision equipment and body armor.  The shotgun and equipment are still missing, but police were able to confirm that one of the recovered guns was the assault rifle.

Police arrested Meshal Alsweel, 19, and Abdulaziz Algfari, 18, for possession of stolen property and narcotics offenses. Isaiah Nixon, 23, faces drug charges.

The FBI is still offering a $5000 reward to anyone with information that leads them to the agent’s missing shotgun.
