STATESVILLE, N.C. – The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man they say habitually engaged in domestic violence.

On June 20, deputies responded to an assault in progress call in the 100 block of Country Life Drive in Statesville.

Deputies located 38-year-old Glenn Phillip George at the home, who stated the victim had left the home on foot.

Authorities say they found the victim, who had obvious signs of assault, hiding in a corn field for protection.  According to officials, the victim had called a friend, who called 911 for her.

George was taken into custody and charged with assault on a female. Due to the domestic violence-nature of the crime, Glenn was booked in to the Iredell County Jail under no bond.

Through the course of their investigation, Special Victims Unit Detectives learned Glenn had been previously convicted of assault inflicting serious injury with a minor present and assault on a child under the age of 12.

Due to the new information, an additional charge of habitual misdemeanor assault was filed against Glenn.

An Ex Parte Domestic Violence Protection Order was also served on Glenn, authorities say.
