Habitual Felon Team Sends 25 Defendants to Prison

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Twenty-five defendants recently entered guilty pleas in Mecklenburg County Superior Court before The Honorable W. Robert Bell, Superior Court Judge. All 25 were sent to prison. The defendants entered their guilty pleas December 10-12, 2012, in administrative courtroom 5350.

Among those convicted were:

Bobby Bines, 37, pled guilty to 1) common law robbery and 2) being a habitual felon. Bines
was sentenced to 77-105 months in prison. Bines has prior convictions that include felony
breaking or entering, habitual impaired driving and being a habitual felon.

Michael Grigsby, 39, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Grisgby was
sentenced to 30-48 months in prison. Grigsby’s prior convictions include felony breaking or
entering, possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Frederick Roseboro, 55, pled guilty to 1) two counts of felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle and 2) being a habitual felon. Roseboro was sentenced to 30-48 months in prison. Roseboro has 12 prior convictions for felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle, four convictions for felony larceny, and one previous conviction for being a habitual felon.

Joseph Faulk, 28, pled guilty to four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Faulk was sentenced to 72-96 months in prison. Faulk has prior out-of-state convictions for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, pointing or presenting a firearm, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Rodney Watt, 40, pled guilty to 1) possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and 2)
possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver. Watt was sentenced to 47-63 months in
prison. Watt has prior convictions that include possession of cocaine, poss ession of cocaine
with intent to sell or deliver, and assault by pointing a gun.

Arthur White, 63, pled guilty to trafficking in cocaine. White was sentenced to 35-42 months in prison. White has prior convictions that include trafficking cocaine, possessi on of cocaine and felony possession of stolen goods.

Jerry Belk, 56, pled guilty to 1) felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle and 2) being a
habitual felon. Belk was sentenced to 50-72 months in prison. Belk’s prior convictions include possession of cocaine, felony breaking or entering and larceny after breaking or entering.

Dimingo Coleman, 34, pled guilty to 1) possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, 2)
conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and 3) being a habitual felon.
Coleman was sentenced to 66-91 months in prison. Coleman has prior convictions for taking
indecent liberties with a child, failure to properly register as a sexual offender and sale of
cocaine.

Carl Bradford, 52, pled guilty to 1) felony breaking or enterin g and 2) being a habitual
breaking or entering status offender. Bradford was sentenced to 35-42 months in prison.
Bradford has prior convictions for felony breaking or entering, felony larceny and larceny after breaking or entering.

Richard Long, 28, pled guilty to 1) robbery with a dangerous weapon, 2) felony breaking or entering and 3) being a habitual felon. Long was sentenced to 66-91 months in prison. Long has prior convictions that include possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony larceny and possession of cocaine.

Antonyal Thompson, 29, pled guilty to 1) assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious
injury, 2) possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and 3) being a habitual felon.
Thompson was sentenced to 60-84 months in prison. Thompson has previous convictions for common law robbery and felony flee to elude.

Note: Almost all guilty pleas entered in criminal administrative court are the result of an agreed upon plea arrangement between the State and the defendant, which is then approved by the sentencing judge.
