High School Senior Shot And Killed In Gaston County

brandonGASTON COUNTY, N.C. – Gastonia police are investigating after a 17-year-old was killed in a Saturday night shooting.

According to police, a call came in around 6:15 p.m. about a vehicle accident at 1771 W. Garrison Blvd., between Linwood Road and Franklin Boulevard. But when police arrived on the scene, they found that someone had been shot.

Brandon Heath McCall, of Gastonia, was found dead from a single gunshot wound, police said.

Gastonia Assistant Police Chief Robert Helton said the wreck happened when a two-door sedan slammed into an SUV. McCall was found inside the sedan. Police believe he had been driving the car.

Investigators have yet to determine whether McCall was shot before or after he got behind the wheel.

The incident had Garrison Boulevard blocked in both directions beween Linwood Road and Franklin Boulevard Saturday night.

Police continue to investigate.

Brandon McCall was a senior at Hunter Huss High School and was expected to graduate this year.
