Hit And Run Driver On The Loose After Injuring Young Boy

Crime scene tapeCHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for a driver who hit a child and fled the scene in east Charlotte Monday night.

Police said an 8-year-old boy was riding his bike on Idlebrook Drive around 6 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver did not stop and left the scene after hitting the boy, according to police.

The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police describe the vehicle involved as a white Ford Expedition with damage to the front right bumper.
