Indian Land Business Owner Charged with Drug Trafficking

Alex Vicente Soto-Godinez, 36, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and trafficking cocaine, officials said.

Investigators received information from York County authorities about illegal drugs at Alex’s Auto Care on Fort Mill Highway, which is operated by Soto-Godinez.

When police began surveilling the business on Wednesday around 7 a.m., Soto-Godinez was there but came later, police said. Investigators then obtained search warrants for Soto-Godinez’s vehicle and business after speaking with the man, obtaining information, and having a drug K-9 alert on the vehicle.

In Soto-Godinez’s van, investigators found 12 kilos of cocaine, which have a street value of over $1 million, according to Faile.

Investigators also found 2.5 pounds of a substance they believed to be marijuana and 1.6 kilograms of substance that they believe was cocaine inside the business, according to Faile. Over in $3,600 cash and other drug-related items, such as packaging materials, were also found.

For what was found, Soto-Godinez is facing minimum prison time of 25 years and a maximum of 30 years if he’s convicted on the cocaine trafficking charge.
