Inmate from Rock Hill Strangled Cellmate in Prison

unnamed-2The death of a prison inmate last week has been ruled a homicide and that the victim was strangled, according to a Dorchester County coroner.

Ryan Mansfield, 24, had gotten into an altercation with his cellmate from Rock Hill. Alice Durr, coroner for Dorchester County, said Mansfield died from asphyxiation after being strangled.

The cellmate was Michael Jerome Brice, 34, who is a drug dealer and convicted felon from Rock Hill and serving 13 years.

Police are currently investigating the death and haven’t said yet if there will be charges filed.
