BELMONT, N.C. — Belmont police arrested Tammy Dillard, 43, and Gary Brewster, 47 for running a meth lab from a Gaston County home.

Initially, police were called to the area on a suspected sexual assault.  They went to a home on Greenway Circle to speak to the people inside about a possible assault.  While there, they smelled what they recognized as chemicals used in cooking meth.

Police were able to obtain a search warrant to enter the home.  They discovered materials to make the drug.

Both are in jail with a $50,000 bond.
