Lancaster Police Seek Suspect in Fatal Shooting

Rashad Demon Johnson, 28, had been out on bond for other charges when the incident occurred. He is wanted on possession of a weapon during a violent crime and murder charges, a Lancaster Police release said. Police said he should be consider armed and dangerous.

The shooting occurred just before 3 p.m. at the Palmetto Place Apartments on the 1600 block, according to Capt. Scott Grant. The victim was found behind one of the apartments with a gunshot wound.

The victim died after being taken to Springs Memorial Hospital then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, according to Grant. Their name hasn’t been released.

Court records online show Johnson is currently out on bond from several other felony charges, including for drugs, weapons, and robbery. The charges began in 2010, court records show.
