Lincolnton Police Make Several Arrests in Drug Round Up

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincolnton police were looking for 26 people this morning, accused of selling drugs to undercover officers.

Narcotics officers with the police department have been putting together cases and going undercover to buy drugs from suspects.  They had gathered enough evidence to secure arrest warrants for 26 people, most of them being prescription drug offenders.

The roundup, dubbed “Operation Rock Bottom” started at 6 this morning.  The police officers, with assistance from the sheriff’s detectives and detention officers, went door-to-door looking for the people on their list of suspects.  By 9am they had arrested 18.

Many of the suspects were dealing prescription drugs, marijuana and crack cocaine.  The charges range from trafficking to possession with intent to sell and deliver.

Many of the suspects brought in this morning are still being held, with various amounts of bonds set.  No other details have been released.
