A man has been jailed after hitting a woman with a piece of 2×4 wood on Sunday.
Terrell Demeshawn Byrd, 27, of Ridge Creek, Gastonia, has been charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. He was held in jail Monday morning on a domestic violence hold.
Byrd is set to appear before a judge on Monday afternoon.
He has been previously convicted of resisting an officer and common law robbery in 2009 and served just over a year.
The woman who was allegedly hit with the wood has pending charges of assault and battery from April but was not arrested in this incident.
