MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Police are on the scene at a Mooresville apartment complex after they said a 29 year old woman was found dead Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators said they have taken Ignacio Vazquez into custody in connection with the homicide at the Piedmont Pointe Apartments.
Neighbors on the scene say the front door was kicked into the woman’s apartment. They also say, although so far it hasn’t been confirmed, the victim was the mother of a 4-year-old child. Police do confirm there were children in the home at the time but none were reported hurt.
Police obtained a warrant for the arrest of Vazquez, 26, on first-degree murder charges. He was apprehended after police searched for several hours.
So far police are not naming the victim, pending notification of the family.
