Police say that Marc Robert Kirkpatrick, 27, rang the door bell of the home on Thursday morning. When no one answered the door, Kirkpatrick went around back and forced open the back door. While he was inside he heard the homeowner’s voice and then fled the scene with the homeowner’s property in tow.
The homeowner was able to give a clear description of the suspect’s vehicle. HITS motorcycle officers then spotted the car and made a traffic stop. The victim was transported to the scene where she positively identified the Kirkpatrick’s car. Officers located the victim’s stolen property inside the vehicle.
Mr. Kirkpatrick was charged with Felony Possession of Stolen Property and Driving While License Revoked. Additional charges are pending. Kirkpatrick remains in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
A quick search of the suspect’s arrest record shows that Mr. Kirkpatrick was just released from jail six months ago for the same crimes.
