CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte Mecklenburg Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested a man they say is responsible for a shooting near uptown Wednesday afternoon.

One person died and two more were taken to the hospital after Colin Demon Latta opened fire on the 400 block of Sylvania Avenue.  Charles Anthony Jefferson, 54, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

One of the shooting victims managed to run to the 1600 block of North Graham Street.  Paramedics said they transported that person with life threatening injuries, also as a result of gunshot wounds.

Police said the third victim was also shot at the Sylvania Ave. scene.  That patient had non-life threatening injuries, officials said, and was taken to Novant Health.

Latta was arrested without incident Thursday morning in York County by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and they were assisted by members of the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Latta will extradited back to Mecklenburg County.
