Charlotte police have arrested a man in connection with a house fire in Steele Creek that in which a woman was injured. The incident happened Friday around 4am at a home on Walkers Ferry Road, which is near the Charlotte airport.
According to officers, the woman was assaulted by Ryan Lee Capps and then left in her burning home, which was started by Capps. When firefighters began battling the fire and entered the home, that’s when the victim was found. She was taken to CMC with life threatening injuries but it expected to recover.
Capps, 22 years old, is facing attempted murder charges, as well as aggravated assault on a handicapped person, sexual battery, and first degree arson. The home sustained about $80,000 in damages.
