An arrest on heroin and methamphetamine possession occurred at a Rowan County driver’s license checkpoint on Sunday.
The checkpoint was set up at Sides Road and Upper Palmer Road in Rockwell. Police stopped a 2004 Dodge Ram truck there Sunday right after midnight.
Officers said they could smell marijuana after the driver rolled his window down. Police said they searched the vehicle and found a black box with a 10th of a gram of heroin and 4 grams of methamphetamine ice stuck underneath the driver’s seat.
Police arrested 26-year-old Jeremy Paul Bowers of Salisbury. He faces charges of possession of a Schedule II and Schedule I controlled substance.
