Statesville police arrested a man that raped a woman in a wooded area Monday night.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 10:30pm. The victim told police she’d been sexually assaulted by the man, whom she knew, in the wooded area behind Power Street. She was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
Officers obtained a warrant for fifty two year old James Edward Williams for second degree rape. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon and his bond was set at $75,000.
