Man Arrested for Stabbing Death of 77-year-old Grandmother

Bean, ChadwickA Morganton man was indicted this week for the killing of his grandmother in February.

Chadwick Allen Bean, 40, had been the main person investigators suspected in the death of Lucille Miller Punch, 77, but they it wasn’t until now they had enough evidence to charge Bean.

Police were called to the home of Punch located in the 400 block of Beth Haven Church Road on February 22 after she was found dead by her son-in-law. She was found with multiple stab wounds.

Bean is currently serving probation violation time in Lincoln County, where he was transferred from the N.C. Department of Corrections.

The lead investigator, Detective Lt. Tim Johnson, is scheduled to deliver the warrant to Bean during his first Lincoln County District Court appearance Wednesday morning.

Punch’s murder is the only one to have happened in Lincoln County in 2015.
