Man Caught Himself, Motel on Fire Cooking Meth

BradyROCK HILL, S.C. – Police say a man was cooking methamphetamine in his motel room early Sunday morning when an explosion occurred, setting beds, a TV and his own leg on fire.

York County drug agents have charged Ronnie Kenneth Brady, 35, with a methamphetamine offense.  It’s his 3rd such offense.
Rock Hill Fire and Police responded at 12:55am Sunday morning to the Rock Hill Motel on Riverview to a report of a fire.
Once on the scene they found one of the rooms on the 2nd floor completely engulfed in flames.
Mr. Brady was using a Coleman Camping Propane Can to cook the drug when it caught fire and caused an explosion in the room, according to reports.
Brady then threw the canister out into the parking lot and tried unsuccessfully to stomp out the fire inside the room before he fled the scene.  He received burns to his leg in his attempt.
Police apprehended him 15 minutes later at intersection of Celanese and Riverview.
Brady was treated at the scene for burns to his legs and then transported to the York Detention Center where he was booked on manufacturing of a controlled substance.
This is not Brady’s first charge surrounding Meth, he has previous charges in Arkansas for possession with intent to distribute.
The room has been deemed a total loss.
