Police in Kannapolis are in the middle of investigating one of the most grisly murders that they’ve ever seen.
Yesterday, Crime In Charlotte (.com) brought you the news that Sunday evening police found a male dead inside a home, along with a woman with severe injuries. Click here to read that story.
The male found dead in the home was a ten year old boy. His mother, thirty two year old Christi Stewart, was severely beaten. Police say her injuries are so serious that she has not been able to talk to police about what happened Sunday.
During their investigation, officers were able to come up with a suspect. That suspect- Eugene Mays, 39- was arrested early Monday morning. Gaston County police assisted Kannapolis police by pinging Mays’ cellphone, which gave them his location off of Forbes Road.
Mayes is charged with first degree murder. According to police Mays and Stewart lived together and had just met online three weeks ago. Police aren’t saying how the ten year old boy was killed or what led up to this gruesome incident.
