Man Charged With Manslaughter From Hit And Run

floresCHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man, charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run was in Mecklenburg County Court on Friday afternoon. Uriel Flores, 18, appeared in court by video. The judge read his charges and set another court date for Oct. 2.

One of Flores’ friends after court says he came to his friends appearance to support him. He wants people to know Flores is a good person and just graduated from South Mecklenburg High school last year.

Police say they are still investigating the crash that Flores is charged in connection with. They say Shaquise Bush, 19, was driving a car that hit a pole. She died at the scene. Another woman and three children, the oldest just three years old, were also in the car and taken to the hospital.

Police say the kids were in car seats but those seats weren’t properly restrained. Investigators say that the passenger in the car is the mother of two of the children. The third is someone else’s child, that the women were watching.

Investigators say that Bush and Flores did not know each other, but they based on the crash scene and witness statements, they believe both cars were speeding.
