A report given to the Statesville Police of a possible sexual assault incident prompted an investigation into the victim and a recent acquaintance. The report was made by the victim’s mother two weeks ago.
A Statesville Police Investigator began working on the case last Monday. Warrants were obtained for Richard Todd Floyd, 49, following the investigation.
Floyd is being charged with five felony counts of statutory rape of a 13, 14, or 15 year old while the suspect was more than six years old than the victim, as well as three counts of statutory rape of a 13, 14, or 15 years old while the suspect was more than six years older than the victim. Floyd was arrested Friday and his bond was set at $100,000.
