Man Found Hiding Under Estranged Wife’s Home

York County Deputies arrested a man that was hiding in his wife’s crawlspace. The wife had a restraining order out against the man.

Police were called out to the home, located on Rock Grove Avenue in Rock Hill, around midnight Friday because the woman was hearing noises under her home. When officers arrived, they found gloves and a flashlight on the ground and then found Bernard Crawford hiding in a far corner of the crawlspace. According to police, they spent 10 minutes trying to get Crawford to come out before he finally did so. He then resisted arrest, so the officers had to use the Taser.

Crawford’s wife has had a restraining order against him since November. He said he was hiding under there because he was trying to figure out who his wife was talking to.

As of Tuesday night, Crawford was out of jail on bond.
