Man Jailed On Two Counts Felony Death By Vehicle

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man charged in a deadly Monday morning accident was released from jail just five days ago.

Billy Neal, 20, has a lengthy rap sheet.  Over the past six months, he’s been arrested on numerous reckless driving, drug possession charges and traffic violations.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has now charged Mr. Neal in the deaths of two men in the early Monday morning car crash at the intersection of Idlewild Road and W.T. Harris Boulevard.

Police said that Jose and Hugo Aguilar, possibly relatives, were traveling in a Chrysler Intrepid.  They say as the driver, Jose Aguilar, made a left turn onto Idlewild Road.  Billy Neal, who was driving a Nissan Xterra, ran a red light and slammed into the victims’ car.

Jose and Hugo Aguilar both died at the scene.

They say the suspect, Neal, took off on foot, then returned to the scene 40 minutes later.

According to the arrest report, Neal was driving under the influence of drugs at the time of Monday’s crash.  After he was released from the hospital he was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail and charged with two counts of reckless driving, two counts of felony hit and run and two counts of felony death by vehicle.
