Man Leads Police On Chase Twice

Cramerton police are now working with other law enforcement agencies to find a man that has led police on two high speed chases in less than a week. According to police, both times officers followed the man- James Stewart- up I85 to I485 toward south Mecklenburg county.

The first chase started last Friday morning in Lincoln County when an officer tried to pull the man over after seeing a load of scrap metal in his truck. This second chase happened Thursday morning. A sergeant with the Cramerton Police Department noticed Stewart at a gas station. When he approached Stewart, he took off. During the chase he tried to hit the police cruiser several times. Police stopped chasing him once he crossed the state line.

Officers say that both times Stewart has followed the same route. Police have warrants out for his arrest. He faces traffic and fraud charges, as well as additional charges from this past police chase.
