CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sharrandon Adams, 32, pled guilty today to voluntary manslaughter in  Mecklenburg Superior Court before The Honorable W. Robert Bell, Superior Court Judge. Judge Bell sentenced him to 59-83 months in prison.

On May 6, 2012, Adams’ girlfriend, 33-year-old Emanee Womack, was pronounced dead at an area hospital as a result of a blunt trauma head injury.

The day before, Adams and Womack got into an argument during a relative’s cookout on O’Hara Drive in Charlotte. Adams pushed Womack, who fell and hit her head. The couple continued arguing and they later went to another relative’s home on West Boulevard, where the altercation continued. Adams pushed her again, and she fell and then asked for help. Womack became unresponsive and Adams called 911.

Adams initially lied to first responders by telling them that the Womack’s symptoms
were due to having taken pain medication. Doctors began treating her for an overdose
before realizing that her symptoms were inconsistent with an overdose and saw bruising
on her arms.
