CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting near a Charlotte school.
It happened around 1:30 p.m. near the football field behind Southwest Middle in the 13600 block of Steele Creek Road.
Police say the suspect shot a man and fled the scene. The victim ran to the campus, where a witness saw him and called police.
Paramedics took the patient to CMC Main for treatment.
A K-9 was brought out to help track the suspect. Police have not made any arrests. No word yet on a suspect description.
A meeting was being was held at the time of the shooting. Students were not on campus. School starts Monday.
