Man Stabbed In The Throat During Robbery Near Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Mecklenburg police detectives searched a crime scene in North Charlotte last night where a man was stabbed in the throat.

The victim told police another man tried to rob him then stabbed him and ran away.  Witnesses in the area said they saw what they believed was an attempted robbery.  The assault happened near the intersection of North Tryon Street and Ashby Street.

North Tryon Street near 16th Street was closed for more than two hours while officers investigated.  The K9 unit assisted in the search and the helicopter was overhead.  No suspect was found.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with what appeared to be a life-threatening injury.  The man’s name has not been released.  No word this morning on the man’s condition.
