GASTON COUNTY, N.C. – A Gastonia man has been arrested after failing to register as a sex offender.

John Albert Stone Jr., 27, is charged with failure to report new address as a sex offender within three business days. A magistrate set his bond at $1 million secured on Tuesday afternoon.

Stone’s address is listed as 109 Wood Bridge St. in Gastonia.

He was charged in 2006 with taking indecent liberties with a minor. Stone was 20 at the time of the offense.

He was convicted and sentenced to three years probation. In North Carolina, anyone charged with a sex offense is required to register as a sex offender for 10 years following the charge.

Stone also has a history of arrests including felony larceny, simple assault, failure to comply and intoxicated and disruptive.
