Monroe Man In Custody After Stabbing His Wife

MONROE, N.C. — Union County deputies and Monroe police said a man was arrested Tuesday after they said his wife was stabbed.

Authorities said the stabbing happened at about 7 a.m. in the 6600 block of Sturdivant Landing Drive in Monroe.

The woman, Elizabeth Neeley, 35,  she was airlifted from Carolinas Medical Center-Union to another trauma center with serious injuries.

Officials said Thomas Neeley, 35, was arrested Tuesday morning in Rock Hill.

Detectives said three children were inside the home at the time of the stabbing.

Those children are in custody of the Department of Social Services.

Detectives said Neeley is charged with attempted murder, assault with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first-degree kidnapping, and interfering with emergency communications.
