Mooresville Walmart Given The All-Clear After Evacuation

WalmartMOORESVILLE, N.C.  — Emergency workers with the Mooresville Fire Department and police blocked off the entire Walmart parking lot Wednesday morning.

Shoppers and more than 100 employees were evacuated from Walmart in Mooresville following a threat received by the store.

They received an anonymous call around 8:30 a.m. from someone threatening to release a chemical agent in the store, which is located close to Interstate 77.

Hazmat crews intensely search the store for a possible agent. Hazmat crews gave the all-clear and reopened the store just after noon.

Mooresville Fire Chief Curt Deaton said the department takes threats like this very seriously and wanted to err on the side of caution.
