Mount Holly Man Dies After Tuesday Hit-and-Run

CIC Default Crime Scene TapeA Mount Holly man who was hit by a pickup truck on Tuesday has died from his injuries.

Gerald Scott Meggs, 67, was crossing South Main Street when a pickup truck hit him and continued driving. He died at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte around 4 a.m. on Thursday, according to Mount Holly police.

The collision happened close to the intersection of Rose Street and South Main Street just after 8 p.m. The driver had been on South Main traveling north, police said.

Meggs was seriously injured in the incident and hospitalized in critical condition before he died.

Authorities are still looking for the driver of the 2004-2008 pickup truck.
