Multiple Charges Netted At Overnight DWI Checkpoint

Don't Drink and DriveCHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police in Charlotte charged eight people with driving under the influence at a DWI checkpoint Friday evening.

The checkpoint was in the 5200 block of North Sharon Amity Road from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police said 18 people were charged with driving while licence revoked, one person was charged with an open container, and five drug charges were issued.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Mecklenburg ABC, and the Huntersville Police Department were at the checkpoint.

The mobile breath testing bus was on the scene.
