Nearby Bank Robbery Causes Lockdown at School, Daycare

BREAKING NEWS IMAGEHUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Elementary school went on lockdown Friday afternoon.

Huntersville Elementary School, located in the 200 block of Gilead Road, went on lockdown for a little over an hour at 12:30 Friday.

School officials says the lockdown was due to police activity in the area.

Huntersville Police say the Fifth Third Bank at 500 Gilead Road was robbed. No further information on the bank robbery was immediately made available.

Police in Mooresville are investigating a robbery of a Fifth Third Bank just before 11 on Friday morning.  Police believe the two bank robberies are related.
