One Arrested in University City Kidnapping Case

One person has been arrested following a kidnapping and car theft case in University City.

The incident took place on Saturday morning. The female victim was in the 8600 block of University City Boulevard when she was approached by a male victim who got into her car, held her at gunpoint, and forced her to drive.

The woman drove the suspect to Queen City Drive where he let her get out of the vehicle before driving off in the stolen car.

Police arrived at the scene in the 3200 block of Queen City Drive and began to investigate the incident.

Police were able to identify the suspect as 27-year-old Christian Chipp. He was apprehended after the stolen vehicle was discovered abandoned in northwest Charlotte near Mount Holly Road. He was found in a nearby area and arrested.

Shipp has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and assault on a female.

The victim was not injured during the incident.
