Police Arrest 69-year-old for Selling Opium

Harvey Welker Fraley, JrA 69-year-old Advance man was arrested and charged this week by Rowan County sheriff’s investigators with nine counts of trafficking opium.

Police arrested Harvey Welker Fraley Jr. after buying from him undercover three times, one of which was in a senior center parking lot, according to investigators.

Investigators said Fraley was not affiliated with the center and that the center had been doing taxes that day for seniors.

Police accused Fraley of selling almost 250 hydrocodone and morphine tablets to an undercover Rowan County Sheriff’s officer on three occasions: April 14, May 11, and then on Tuesday.

Fraley had already been out of jail on bond from being arrested in March for obtaining property by false pretense. This time, he is at the Rowan County jail on bail of $175,000.
