Thirty-nine year-old Juan Pablo Guarda has been arrested for reportedly embezzling almost $900,000 from a company he used to work for. Guarda was employed at Boggs Paving in Monroe and was arrested on November 29th.
The Union County District Attorney’s Office started an investigation with Monroe police after the company’s owner reported the crime to the authorities. That owner has also filed a civil suit to recover the money Guarda stole, which was over $888,000 in cash and nearly $2,000 in building supplies.
Guarda is being charged with larceny by employee, conspiracy to commit a felony, and obtaining property by false pretenses. He is being jailed in Union County under a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.
