Police Charge Second Man in Connection to August Murder

Police have  charged a second man in connection to a murder that occurred in August.

The incident occurred on August 8, 2017. Police were called to the scene on Independence Boulevard to find a 25-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds inside his car. The victim was pronounced dead and later identified as Kyyri De Ji Marquis Doggette.

In November, police arrested the first suspect, 23-year-old Andre Earl Brooks. Brooks was no stranger to the law, with a large number of charges and mug shots to his name. The first suspect was charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and shooting into occupied property and inflicting serious injury.

According to police reports, the second man charged in the case who was identified as 21-year-old Lameek Singleton,  was in custody already for other charges unrelated to the murder when he was identified as a suspect in the case and charged with first-degree murder.
