Police Find Meth Lab Run By Salisbury Man and 17-Year-Old

Meth junkA Salisbury man and teen girl have been arrested by police with the state of Connecticut for running a mobile meth lab.

Police found the lab in a McDonald’s parking lot in Vernon, which is around 18 miles to the northeast of Hartford, on Thursday. There, officers found materials normally used in the making of methamphetamine.

According to police, they were sent to locate a red Ford Transit van because the driver was “overdue” at a location.

The driver, 24-year-old Shang Clevenger of Salisbury, and the passenger, a 17-year-old, had been considered missing, police said.

The meth lab was disassembled by federal Drug Enforcement Administration special agents and police narcotics detectives and multiple items, such as explosive materials and chemicals and hazardous waste, were seized as evidence, police said.

The teen’s family and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families were notified and the girl was transported to a juvenile detention center, police said.

Both the girl and Clevenger were charged with operating a drug factory, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, and weapons in a motor vehicle.

Clevenger received bond of $500,000 and will appear Monday in Superior Court.
