LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A home invasion suspect accused of breaking into a neighbor’s bedroom has been arrested.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says Ahmad Ryhaid Wallace, 22, entered the house in the 2900 block of Chestnut Road around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

The woman told police he came into her bedroom and sat on the bed next to the victim. He told her he was there to clear up a debt with the homeowner’s daughter, police say. The woman told police she believed the man was her neighbor, who had been to her house multiple times, based on his size and sound of his voice.

Wallace allegedly displayed a gun and demanded money when the woman got up from the bed. When the woman screamed, the suspect pushed her to the floor and fled.

Deputies tracked Wallace to his home in the 3000 block of Chestnut Road. The suspect’s roommate let in the police. They took Wallace into custody without incident. Investigators say they seized an air soft pistol from the scene.

Wallace faces first-degree burglary charges. He was also charged for an unrelated incident in Gastonia.

He is being held on an $80,000 bond.
