Police: Man in Head-on Collision After Drinking 17-20 Beers

The man has a previous misdemeanor death conviction and told police he drank 17-20 beers prior to the collision, a police search warrant and court records show.

41-year-old Kanyon Ainnone Carter was driving west in his Chevy Suburban with a revoked license when he drove over the center median and hit a Toyota Tundra, according to police.

The search warrant shows Carter’s vehicle burst into flames from the collision between Rice Road Extension and Sam Newell Road.

Each of the drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Carter has had his license revoked since September 2013 after being involved in a fatal wreck, an arrest warrant showed.

In 2014, Carter was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and received two years of probation from the 2013 wreck, according to court records.

Court records show Carter’s criminal records in North Carolina began in 1996. He has since been found guilty of driving while impaired three times.
