Police Officer Crashed, Injured Chasing A Car

Police LightsHolly Hill, S.C. – Authorities say a Holly Hill police officer is recovering after he crashed while chasing a car on Interstate 26.

Police say that officer Tony Muir lost control of his cruiser around 1 a.m. Friday after the car he was chasing blew its engine, spraying the patrolman’s windshield with oil and making the pavement slick.

Police say Muir’s cruiser ran off the road and hit some trees.  He needed five staples for a head injury but is expected to recover.

Muir knew the driver was driving with a suspended license when he tried to pull her over and the driver tried to ram two patrol cars during the chase.  The suspect have been identified but so far has not been found.  Police are not releasing her name at this time.
