POIALBEMARLE, N.C. -Police are asking for the public’s help after a store owner was murdered Thursday night.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. at B & G Coins near the intersection of West Main Street and Concord Road.  The murder was the first for Albemarle in 2013.

Surveillance video showed the suspect, a man, knocking on the door to the business and the owner, Roger Gibson, opening the door for him. Police say the store owner was shot and rushed to the hospital where he died late Thursday night.

The suspect took off in the owner’s truck minutes after it happened.

The White Ford F150 was found just down the road in the woods.  A tow truck removed the truck from the area.

The suspect is still on the loose.

Police said according to surveillance video the killer walked into the store and left 20 minutes carrying two bags. The suspect took off in Gibson’s white F150 pickup.

Friday officials released the photo of a person of interest they’d like to speak with regarding the incident.
