Police Release Surveillance Photo Of Armed Robber

CitgoSALISBURY, N.C. — Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who robbed a Salisbury convenience store on Aug. 15.

Officers said the man first went into the Citgo in the 900 block of West Jake Alexander Boulevard just after midnight and took a can of Bud Ice to the counter and asked the clerk for a pack of Newport cigarettes. He told the clerk he had to run outside and get his wallet.

Police said the clerk put the items back, but the man returned minutes later, brought another beer to the counter and again asked for Newport cigarettes. They said he then pulled out a steak knife and ordered the clerk to give him all the money in the register.

Officers said he took the money, beer and cigarettes and ran down Jake Alexander Boulevard toward Klumac Road.

The robber is described as a black man, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, skinny and in his mid-30s to early-40s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Salisbury police at (704) 638-5333.
