Police Search For Man Who Assaulted Armed Forces Member

Suspect in assaultCharlotte-Mecklenburg police said they are seeking help from the public identifying the man who punched an Armed Forces member.

Officers responded to an assault call in the 300 block of East Trade Street on Aug. 22 at 11:25 p.m., a CMPD news release said. According to the victim, who is an Air Force mechanic, a man had walked up and punched him in his face.

The victim had been walking past the Transit Center at the time when those protesting the mistrial of Randall Kerrick were arriving, according to WBTV.

The victim was taken to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center for treatment.

An image was pulled from a surveillance video of the suspect, detectives said. They have described him as 5-feet-8-inches tall, about 170 pounds, with dreadlocks that are shoulder-length and wearing a red shirt.
